蘇丹紅可致癌 禁食用(2007年5月23日)

【明報專訊】蘇丹紅是人造化學染色料,可用作碳氫溶劑、油、蠟和塑膠等物質的染色料,但因其潛在致癌風險,故禁止用作食物染料。1975年國際癌症研究機構對蘇丹紅作出評估,發現在小鼠皮下注射蘇丹紅1號後,小鼠的肝臟出現癌症腫瘤;把蘇丹紅1號植入小鼠的膀胱,小鼠的膀胱亦出現癌症腫瘤。

Sudan is a man-made chemical dye that can be used as a hydrocarbon solvent, oil, wax and plastic, the coloring material, But because of the potential carcinogenic risk, it prohibited as food dye. In 1975, the International Agency for Research on Cancer of Sudan assessment, and found that in mice subcutaneously Sudan on the 1st, mouse liver cancer tumors arise; put Sudan on the 1st of bladder implantation in mice, the mice also appeared bladder cancer tumors.

國際癌症研究機構其後於87年再就蘇丹紅會否令人類患癌作評估,但未發現足夠數據,故把蘇丹紅1號至4號,列為未能分類物質。但近年蘇丹紅的基因毒性令人關注,一些國家組織及食物安全機構認為蘇丹紅是基因致癌物質,另一些組織或機構則把蘇丹紅視為可能致癌物質。
